As life goes by

The hummingbirds have been drinking lots of sugar water. I saw a hummingbird flying under my other feeders and realized I needed to get bottles ready for the rest of the birds! It didn’t take long for the crowd to arrive. I have seen six to eight flying around the feeders. I love seeing them flying around the feeders. Tonight I saw another bird feeding from the feeders with seeds in them. It was red headed, black back with black going down the back, and with white belly. It could have been a warbler or a grosbeak. The colors were so bright and it was a strange bird last seen last year.
My granddaughter had a birthday last week. Mary Margaret turned 22. Her track team was back at the University of Arkansas for another meet. She ran in the steeple chase which was different from her other races. Mary Margaret ran around the track three times, over a high fence into a pool of water each round. She ran in another race just a little less than a mile. Amanda and I went by Tim’s Pizza where Colorado works and had a small pizza before we returned to the track. Elisa and Kara came for the event.
My church, Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Rogers, met on Saturday to build bunk beds for kids who sleep on the floor. Many churches build these beds. We built 21 1/2 beds. There were 30 members who helped build the beds. If your church is offered the opportunity to build the beds, do so! It is a lot of fun and kids get to help too.
My bridge group met last Monday and Tuesday I played with a group called the Day/Night group. They used to play at night and the ladies started having trouble traveling at night so they changed the name to fit it.
On Wednesday, I had a little fender bender on my way to Physical Therapy. I slid into a car who was in my lane as we merged. It was my second accident in life and that is enough. Thankfully, no one was hurt but we will both have to have repairs done.
My bookclub met to discuss the book we read for the month. It was “Maggie, Trapped in the School for the Feeble Minded.” It was written by Dr. Lynn Phillips from Enid, Oklahoma. It is based on actual events based on a story told to him on a cold winter evening in 1982. It talked about Calico Rock, which is where two of my girls were born. Rachael was born in 1980, and Kara was born in 1983. We lived in Mountain View at that time.

On Thursday three of us from my home economist club went to Springdale to take food to the workers at Spay Arkansas. It is a project we have continued for a number of years. We go once a month with sandwiches, chips and brownies. We make the club sandwiches at Roxie’s house that morning so they are fresh. We make plans each time we go to eat out together.
That afternoon I went out with one of the TTT club members with a little fourth grade girl to shop for her camping experience clothing. We are sending five girls to camp this year. They go to War Eagle Camp for a week. Three of the girls are from Garfield and two from Springdale. We spend $300 per girl for their week. We have people who donate money that helps pay for the clothing. I joined the TTT club after Jackie invited me to join ten years ago. There are three members from Garfield and the rest are from Springdale. We will have a Camper Party to show everyone the clothes. The families come and we have a fun night meeting each other and sharing about their upcoming camping trip in June.
Jackie has had her two girls visiting, one per weekend. Lynn came first from Texas and Terri came the second weekend. Terri plants tomatoes to put into the garden so they planted along with many other vegetables.
Jane has been sick, coughing lots and then she was bitten by a spider which has made her so weak. Her coughing comes from allergies since she has been mowing and working in the yard. She will have to get well since we will be coming over to decoration this weekend. Union Hill celebrates on the first weekend of May each year. We look forward to going to the cemetery and then to John and Wanda’s house for lunch and visiting.
Have a great week. Stay well and plant your garden if you do so.
