The chili supper hosted by the Compton Volunteer Fire Department was well attended last Saturday evening. We appreciate everyone who donated time, food, and money for the Fire Department. The Community Clean up was successful, as well. The Community Association appreciates everyone who came out to help with the clean-up.
The Compton Community Day will be held Saturday, November 2 from 12-4 at the Compton Community Building. There will food, music, games, prizes and the quilt raffle.
The annual Hill Top Quilt Auction will also be Saturday, November 2. The potluck dinner starts at 5 p.m. and the auction will begin at 7 p.m. The Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary works all year hand quilting these quilts for the auction. There are other donated items that will be for sale at the auction. Everyone is invited to attend both the Compton Community Day and The Hilltop Quilt Auction.
I celebrated my birthday this past week. I received many calls, texts, and cards from near and far. It was a good day. My great-grandmother, Pearl Edgar was born on October 21 and I was born October 22. We celebrated our birthdays together until her death in 1982. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
A friend and I traveled over to Ponca last Friday. We were fortunate enough to see one of the big bull elk and several white-tailed deer. Fall is my favorite time of the year. I am ready for some rain and some cooler weather.
