Gone, but not forgotten: Remembering local springs

In the 19th century, mineral springs were touted as having healing properties and were quite popular. Among these healing springs was one situated in the northern part of Newton County. It came to be known as Tom Thumb Springs and was mentioned in the Fayetteville Weekly Democrat in 1876 when it was reported that 200 people had visited for the season.
