Rhoades appointed to D/MJ board

Posted

DEER — Michael Rhoades, of Vendor, was appointed to fill the vacancy on the Deer/Mt. Judea School District Board of Education. He met with the school board members at the Oct. 21 board meeting having applied for the seat vacated last month by Julie Black.
The board called for an executive session which lasted about 20 minutes. The board then voted in favor of appointing Rhoades in open session.
It was explained that while Rhoades will fill the Zone 2 seat he would have to run at the next school election to complete the term that expires in 2028. That will require circulating his candidate petition this December and filing as a candidate during the filing period of next Feb. 24-March 3. Early voting opens next May 6 with Election Day on May 13.

Rhoades said he was excited to work with the other board members. There will be times when there will be a difference of opinions, but those opinions can all be considered to come to a solution to a problem. He said he supports both schools in the district equally.
Rhoades said he is employed as a foreman for Xyleme Tree Service. He noted he has two children who graduated from the school district and currently has two children enrolled at the Mt. Judea School.
