RUSSELLVILLE — Arkansas Tech junior linebacker Jyrin Steward has been named as the latest Great American Conference Defensive Player of the Week as it was announced by the league office on Monday.
It is the first GAC weekly award in the career of Steward.
A native of El Dorado, Ark., Steward was a menace in the backfield of Southern Nazarene throughout the game as he racked up an impressive 5.0 tackles for loss against the Crimson Storm. All told, Steward would register nine stops with eight of those being solo efforts. He also forced a fumble, his second in as many games.
