As life goes by

Every time I started thinking about what I was going to type, I just couldn’t get past the flooding in Texas. Just saw that at least 78 dead and dozens missing in the Texas floods as more rain looms! The Guadalupe River rose so quickly and during the night which was even worse trying to get to safety. The Camp Mystic director died while trying to save the kids. There are so many stories that will be told about that night!
I saw Dennis Brasel had passed away. He and Jackie went to school together. Mother worked with Dennis at the U.S. Forest Service.
The “Gone, but Not Forgotten” column is always interesting. The story about Ambrose R. McPherson fighting for both sides during the Civil War was interesting. Hopefully, you are reading this column each week. There were not too many men who fought on both sides. He was the captain of each company.
I had two doctor appointments last week, but only had to go to one since my doctor called in sick. We had to reschedule for next week. Hopefully, he is well.
My friends; Roxie Geddie, Carol Johnson, Jamie Jarding and I are going to drive over to Mt. Judea on Wednesday. Carol has been wanting to go over there for some time. We finally found a date we could all go. I am looking forward to going. I loved teaching fourth grade there.

On Monday I will be playing bridge. Jackie is in that group, as well. Friday I will be playing pinochle at the church.
Friday is John David’s birthday. I was 3 when he was born and Jane was 2. Boy, Mother had a housefull. Jackie was 15 that year. Robert was 17 and Patty was 13 that year.
Have a great week. We may have some stormy weather, but maybe not too strong.
Hopefully, you are getting fresh fruit and vegetables out of your garden.
