ATV rodeo kicks off fair season Saturday

The fair kicks off Friday, Aug. 9, with the ATV Rodeo. Registration begins and gates open at 3 p.m. riders meet at 5:30 p.m. The road will start at 6 p.m.
There will also be a chili cookoff. Entries will be accepted from 3-3:30 p.m. in the commercial building. A Veterans Appreciation Dinner will be served from 4-6 p.m. in the commercial building.
Saturday, August 16: The Wood Motor Company Truck Pull registration begins at 4:30 p.m. Gates open at 5 p.m.. The truck pull begins at 6 p.m.
Sunday, Aug. 17: Exhibit check-in is from 1-5 p.m.. Livestock check-in is from 8 a.m.-5 p.m.
Monday, Aug. 18: The exhibit buildings will be closed for judging which begins at 9 a.m. the building reopen after judging until 9 p.m. The Livestock Show is at 6 p.m.

Tuesday, Aug. 19. The Buyers' Dinner will be served at 6 p.m. with the Premium Sale set to begin at 7 p.m. the annual Cookie Jar Scholarship Auction will be held during the sale. All livestock entries will be released after the sale.
Wednesday, August. 20: the fairgrounds will be closed.
Thursday, Aug. 21: The Newton County Fair Bull Jam, sponsored by Red Oak Station, will be held in the arena at 8 p.m. Registration for Mutton Bustin' opens at 6:30 p.m. Mutton Bustin' begins at 7 p.m.
Friday, August 22: There will be Cowboy Church service at 10 a.m. at the rodeo arena. Rodeo Jasper presented by Ramsey Motor Company is set for 8 p.m. Arena gates and Mutton Bustin registration opens at 6:30 p.m. Mutton Bustin' starts at 7 p.m. A concert by 7 South will follow the rodeo on the new outdoor stage.
Saturday, Aug. 23: The Fair Parade is at 10 a.m. Line up at Jasper School. Mutton Bustin' and the rest of the rodeo events will be held that night with gates opening at 6:30 p.m.
Sunday, Aug. 24: Check out all exhibits from the exhibit buildings from 12-2 p.m.
