Exploring nature is amazing — but summer heat can be dangerous. Stay safe with these essential tips:
• Hydrate often – Bring plenty of water for the duration of your trip.
• Dress smart – Light clothes, wide-brimmed hats, & sunscreen.
• Avoid peak heat – Hike early or late, rest in the shade.
• Take it slow – Know your limits & take breaks.
• Don’t go solo – Have a buddy & know the signs of heat illness.
• Heat stroke is a medical emergency: hot skin, confusion, or fainting = call 911 or flag down park ranger!
