Early voting in school elections starts today
The annual school board elections is May 13, and early voting begins this week.
The Jasper School District, the Deer/Mt. Judea School District and the Ozark Mountain School District, all have campuses located in Newton County.
The School Board Election will be held in Newton County, May 13, with early voting beginning Monday, May 5 through Monday, May 12. Early voting will be held in the Newton County Courthouse from
8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
Polling sites will be open on Election Day, May 13, 7:30 a.m. - 7:30 p.m., at Jefferson and Pleasant Hill.
Two school board races will be taking place in Searcy County. Halen Harris will be running for election to the Searcy County School Board. Bart Beaver will be up for election as part of the Ozark Mountain School Board, which also covers parts of Marion County and Newton County.
In Newton County, The Deer/Mt. Judea School Board will have three positions, two of which will be uncontested. Michael Rhoades will run for Zone 2, while Jacob Shaw will run for Zone 1. There will be one race in the Deer/Mt. Judea School Board. Voters in Zone 5 will choose between Kenneth L. King and Anthony L. Casey. The Jasper School Board has one uncontested race. Lisa Snow will be on the ballot for Zone 2. There will be a measure on the ballot for both school boards to keep the millage the same.
