Posted

OAKLAND— On Saturday, August 2, the Marion County Sheriff's Office released a press release about a fire in the Oakland area.
On July 10, deputies were dispatched to the scene of a fire located on MC Road 145. Upon arrival, the deputies requested the aid of investigators, who swiftly came to start their investigation.
The Investigators conducted a crime scene search over the next several days. They received aid from members of the Arkansas State Police Bomb and Arson Unit, as well as members of the FBI Evidence Response Team. They did this to help determine the cause and origin of the fire, as well as to recover evidence related to said fire.

During this search, evidence was uncovered that was believed to be human remains. These were recovered from the scene, and subsequently submitted to the Arkansas State Crime Laboratory. This was done for analysis, as well as identification.
No names associated with the residence are being released at this time. This is until more information is received from the State Crime Lab. The investigation is still ongoing, and foul play is not suspected. More information will be released as it becomes available.
