The Compton Pond, located behind the volunteer fire station, will host a series of fishing derbies on Saturdays during May. Each derby will begin at 9 a.m. and end at 11 a.m. Come early to register.
The first derby, sponsored by the Jasper American Legion, will be held May 4. Compton Busy Beaver 4-H Club will conduct a fishing derby on May 11. The Compton Volunteer Fire Department will sponsor the May 18 derby. The final fishing derby on May 25 will be sponsored by the County Line Baptist Church.
The derbies are free for anglers ages 15 and under.
The Arkansas Game & Fish Commission will stock the pond with catfish for each derby.
