Ozark Mountain senior girls keep pace in conference

GREENLAND — The Ozark Mountain Lady Bears needed a win on Friday night opposite Greenland.
They picked up that win, 47-36. The Bears also needed a win, but they were on the short end of a 48-40 contest.
Ozark Mountain’s junior boys claimed a league title with a 57-19 contest.

Senior Girls

The Ozark Mountain Lady Bears had a solid defensive first half on the way to posting a 47-36 win.
Tara Yocham of Ozark Mountain had six first period points as the Lady Bears held Greenland to one first quarter goal. The Lady Bears led, 14-5, at the first break.
Ozark Mountain held the Lady Pirates to only one field in the second period and moved their advantage to 24-8. The Lady Bears left five points on the table as they were 0-of-5 from the free throw line in the frame.
Greenland woke up on offense in the third period. They outscored the Lady Bears, 16-7, to make it a 31-24 game heading into the last period.
The Lady Bears struggled again from the line in the fourth hitting 2-of-9 free throws, but they had enough fire power to score 16 points.
Leading the team in scoring was Yocham with 11 points. Kelly Middleton and Brooklynn Tennison scored nine each, Jailyn Jackson seven, Kierra Kleinert five, Jasmine Fletcher four and Brooklynn Cunningham two.

Senior Boys

Ozark Mountain managed only 14 points in the second half and watched as Greenland passed them for a 48-40 win.
Kooper Baker had nine first quarter points and Tate Dixon added five as the Bears led 18-10 at the first break.
Ozark Mountain outscored Greenland, 8-7, in the second to increase the advantage by a point.
The third period was a change of complexion. Greenland outscored the Bears, 20-7, to take a 37-33 lead into the final period.
Leading the Bears in scoring was Dixon with 16 points. Baker added 13, Mason Gilmore six, Cobie Chaney and Jake Zemlik two each and Marcus Fields one.

Junior Boys

The Ozark Mountain junior boys are the undefeated junior high conference champions. They defeated Greenland, 57-19.
After hold a modest, 18-10, lead at the end of the first quarter, the Junior Bears outscored the Junior Pirates, 15-5, in the second period.
Greenland managed only two points in the third period and two points in the fourth.
Leading Ozark Mountain in scoring was Sammie Ridell and Ben Tramell with 16 points each. Logan Sisco added nine, Donnie Flud four, Tayte Jackson and Bentley Middleton three apiece and Lucas Mallicoat, Gage Kleinert and Daniel Riddell two apiece.
