While not what I was planning to write, today’s weather gave me no choice. It is Thursday, January 1 and the skies are an especially toxic shade of airplane ‘exhaust’ white. Coupling that with an obvious, though generally unexplainable, haze at the lower altitudes, 2026 is already amplifying the 2025 geoengineering efforts. more

It is amazing how fast a week goes by! We are already into the second week of 2026. Just think a quarter of a century has already gone by. Thinking back to the year 2000, we were unsure how things were going to go with all the computers, etc. And now it has been 25 years going on to the next year. Looking at the bright super moon and waking up to fog today with the temperatures low enough to make the fields have a cover of ice on the grass. No wonder we enjoy living in the country. There is so much beauty where ever you look. more

It is an honor and privilege to represent The Natural State. While Washington’s deliberations and debates often generate splashy headlines across the country, my most important responsibility is staying connected with the issues and initiatives important to Arkansans and their communities. I am grateful for the effort constituents make to contact my office, as this direct feedback helps shape my work and inform policy decisions. In this week’s column, I am answering questions I have received recently, including from students, on a number of topics.  more

In this time when money is tight, it is heartening to see how Newton County folks are stepping up to help others. For example, the Deer School has a pantry, and every week I've noticed that there is food of all kinds donated. I know that local churches and neighbors are donating. Boston Mountain Clinic at Deer has a table with food for folks to take if they need it. And I've been shopping at Harps and have seen folks donate a Thanksgiving turkey to the Christian Food Room. Here's a thank you to all who are stepping up and helping their neighbors. more
